About Me

My name is Jill Powell. I am a licensed Professional counselor (LPC) and I have over 10 years experience in the mental health field. My passion is to help all adults of the lifespan find their strengths, and to help guide them to live their lives to their fullest potential. You will find that I utilize a holistic strengths based approach in my sessions, along with solution focused, motivational interviewing, and cognitive behavioral therapy. People have told me that I have a calming presence about myself which will immediately put you at ease. I enjoy working with clients that are seeking help in issues with mood disorders, anxiety, grief and loss, life transitions, chronic health issues, relationship issues, and many more. I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology at East Stroudsburg University and my graduate degree in Mental Health counseling at Walden University. I am grateful to be part of your personal journey of growth!

FAQs

Helping a client breakthrough her trauma caused by a past abusive relationship. she was able to utilize her skills learned in therapy to help regain a sense of control over her life again.

Clients can expect our sessions to be tailored to their goals, and what they are hoping to get out of the sessions. we will work together to figure out the best way to reach those goals in a collective effort throughout our time together.

The first session you can expect our time to be spent together by asking you questions about yourself and the reason why you have decided to come to counseling. Your goals are important to me, so we will spend time talking about them and what you hope to get out of meeting with me.

I believe everyone has some kind of natural ability to be good at something. My ability has always been helping others in one way or another. Providing a safe space for a person to feel comfortable to talk to me is my natural ability and skill. With that being said, my intuition and passion are what has led, and motivated me to become a therapist.

Highlights

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Clients can expect to feel at ease after our sessions, and hopefully will gain a sense of feeling validated and heard. The reason why you are seeking counseling is very important, and my goal is to make you feel that way throughout our sessions together.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I utilize evidence-based therapies, including: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Client-Centered Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy, Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing & Solution-Focused Therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am naturally an empathic and caring person where my main drive while being a therapist  and human is to help others be able to reach their goals, and to eventually feel content with their life choices. My cup is filled when I see my clients succeeding and feeling like they have been heard.
