Hi there! My name is Meghan Yahrling and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with roughly six years of experience working in various clinical settings such as Intensive Outpatient Programs and Private Practice. While working together, we can collaborate on techniques and approaches that are suited to you and your individual needs. We will use a holistic, whole-self approach to explore the different areas of life that are being effected while taking into account all parts of your mind, body, and spirit. In the work that I do, I help those who are struggling with feelings of depression and anxiety as well as those who are managing stressful life transitions. As we are working through what you’re dealing with, there will be an underlying theme of reconnecting with the self to better understand your wants and needs as well as how to show up authentically in all areas of life. Stepping into the space of therapy can be frightening but there is comfort in knowing that you are not alone & are worthy of feeling seen and heard. Meaningful work with a counselor is done in a safe, non-judgmental space—all starting with a connection between two people. As Oprah Winfrey says, “It doesn't matter who you are, where you come from. The ability to triumph begins with you. Always.
Highlights
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
You can expect to move through therapy in a way that is authentic and attentive to the here and now of your life. What is important to you will be important to me and we will use that to guide us towards your unique and individual goals. You are the expert on yourself and I am honored to be able to hold space and get to know you throughout this process. I am so excited to walk alongside you throughout this journey and create a space of safety and empowerment.
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
I utilize evidence-based practices to ensure that the work being done is meaningful, effective, and valuable to the client. I also use a trauma-informed lens to understand how individual and systematic experiences can alter the way an individual navigates through life. I use a social- justice oriented approach to take into account oppressive systems that may impact the well- being of the individual client. Alongside those, I often lean toward cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, rational-emotive behavioral therapy with a humanistic or human-centered approach. At the end of the day, you are the expert on yourself and I am willing to share the tools and skills that I have gained through clinical experience to allow you to be your most authentic self.
Explain to clients what you feel are your biggest strengths.
I have worked with adults in individual therapy with a wide array of concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and mood disorders. Being able to create a warm, welcoming, and safe environment for my clients is my utmost priority while navigating the therapeutic relationship. Although I have worked with various populations in the past, my focus population is on women in their twenties who are experiencing life transitions, adjustments, and feelings of anxiety.
