About Me

Hello everyone, I'm Kenya, a licensed professional counselor supervisee. I am a recent graduate from Liberty University, where I earned my Master's degree in clinical Mental Health Counseling. My journey into this field was driven by a deep-seated passion for helping others navigate their mental health challenges. Throughout my academic and practical training, I have developed a particular interest in addressing trauma, anxiety, depression, stress, substance use, and anger management. My hands-on experience through internships and practicum placements has allowed me to work with a diverse range of individuals, each with their unique stories and struggles. These experiences have been incredibly rewarding and have reinforced my commitment to creating a safe, empathetic, and non-judgmental space for my clients. I believe in the power of building strong therapeutic relationships and using evidence-based practices to support my clients' journeys toward healing and personal growth. As I begin my professional career, I am excited to continue learning and growing, with the goal of making a meaningful and positive impact on the lives of those I serve. Kenya Land, MA, LPC-A Resident in Professional Counseling, is under the clinical supervision of Ebony Harrison, LPC, while obtaining supervised post-master’s degree experience per the laws and regulations governing the practice of Professional Counseling.

One client's journey truly touched my soul. Despite wrestling with daily mental health battles, he showed an incredible determination to conquer them. Together, we faced his darkest moments, addressing the overwhelming anxiety and stress that weighed him down. Each step forward, no matter how small, filled me with profound pride. His resilience and courage reinforced my belief in the power of therapy and the inner strength of every person. His journey reminded me of the deep connections we forge as we walk hand in hand toward healing and empowerment, resonating with me on a deeply personal level.

When you choose to work with me, you're not just entering therapy; you're embarking on a journey of self-discovery and healing. Our sessions will be a safe haven where you can freely express your thoughts and emotions, even the difficult ones. We'll explore your experiences with compassion and understanding, without judgment. Together, we'll navigate the ups and downs, processing emotions, identifying patterns, and fostering growth. Expect a collaborative and personalized approach that empowers you to make meaningful changes in your life, one step at a time.

In our first session, we'll focus on building a strong rapport and getting to know each other. I'll share a bit about myself and my approach to therapy, including discussing the importance of confidentiality. Then, I'll invite you to share your reasons for seeking therapy and what you hope to achieve. It's a safe space for you to express yourself, and I'll listen attentively without judgment. By the end of the session, my goal is for you to feel comfortable, understood, and hopeful about our journey together.

What motivates me to be a therapist is the profound sense of connection and compassion I feel for each individual I work with. Being able to provide comfort and support during their darkest moments is not just a job for me; it's a deeply personal calling. Creating a safe space where they can openly share their struggles and vulnerabilities is a privilege I cherish deeply. Witnessing their journey toward healing and growth fills me with a sense of purpose and fulfillment that words can't fully express. It's a reminder of the deep connection we all share as human beings, and it fuels my passion to continue supporting others on their path to well-being.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

As your therapist, my priority is to offer you a safe and non-judgmental space where you can freely express yourself. Together, we'll create a personalized plan that addresses your specific needs, whether it's managing anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, substance use, or anger. You'll develop practical strategies to cope with life's challenges, gain deeper self-awareness, and improve your emotional well-being and relationships. I'm here to support you throughout your journey, helping you build resilience and achieve long-term mental health.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I utlize evidence based therapies, including Psychotherapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Dognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Therapy & Solution Focused Therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe my biggest strengths lie in my ability to truly listen and create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and feelings. I'm passionate about helping you manage challenges. I focus on practical, actionable strategies that you can use in your everyday life. My goal is to help you build resilience, gain self-awareness, and improve your overall emotional well-being. I'm here to support you every step of the way on your journey toward healing and growth.
