About Me

Hi there! My name is Kristin and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of New Jersey. I have been working in the mental health field for 8 years with adolescents, families, and young adults. I have worked in variety of settings including group therapy, in home therapy, and in a residential setting. I have worked with a variety of mental health diagnoses throughout my career but I actively enjoy working with depression, anxiety, and even borderline personality disorder. I actively utilize a person-centered approach with DBT and CBT with all of my clients but I will tailor my treatment approach to the needs of the client as needed!


One of the most rewarding aspects I encountered was when I was working with a young adult who was actively participating in their treatment. This client had a past history of trauma and was experiencing suicidal ideation on a daily basis. During our sessions together we actively worked on coping skills, grounding skills, processing trauma, and decreasing their suicidal ideation. The client actively worked hand in hand with me to improve their mental health, and they ultimately graduated high school and went on to college.

Clients can expect that each and every session will be tailored to their specific needs and areas in which they wish to discuss. While I often do plan ahead to determine potential skills and interventions to use with clients, I also make sure that I am flexible in order to address needs in the present moment with my clients.

Our first session will consistent of getting to know you! We will work on exploring the entirety of who you are, what has lead you to seek out therapeutic services, and potential goals that you would like to work towards. We will also go over the counseling process and I will answer any questions you may have.

As a therapist who also struggles with their own anxiety from time to time, I am aware of the challenges and difficulties that many clients may face on a consistent basis. My goal has always been to help others work on overcoming their own mental health challenges by reducing symptomology in order for them to achieve a life they truly can enjoy.


    What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

    In our sessions together, I want clients to feel that they are heard, supported, and have someone who is willing to work together with them to accomplish their goals. Clients will work on learning to understand themselves, and their emotions, and will learn how best to cope in challenging times.

    What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

    I utilize evidence-based therapies, including Attachment-Based Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing & Solution-Focused Therapy.

    Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

    I have been able to provide many of clients with a safe and warm environment in which they actively feel heard and understood. I have been dedicated to continuing to build my knowledge and skills in order to continue to best help my clients.
