Hi there, I'm Cecelia. I am a licensed Professional Counselor with several years of experience working in clinical psychology settings, ranging from an inpatient psychiatric hospital to a women's residential substance use disorder treatment program. I help people who are easily overwhelmed to learn distress tolerance techniques and stress management skills. Together, we can strategize about what to do to help you to manage your emotions. We'll use a whole self-approach, addressing the needs of your mind, body and spirit. I also integrate mindfulness, yoga and art to help you develop a stronger relationship with yourself. Whether you're dealing with overwhelming relationship issues or cycles of anxiety and depression, I'm here to help. Seeking therapy can feel scary but you're making the right choice. You deserve a safe space to heal and grow. In our sessions together, I'll meet you with compassion and evidence-based techniques so you can overcome the hang-ups and habits holding you back. Let's work together!
I once worked with a client for about 2 years who struggled enormously with social anxiety. Through our work together, they were able to face their fears and become successful professors.
Though every person’s situation is unique, I generally approach the counseling process from a cognitive behavioral framework to help my clients focus on changing unhelpful or unhealthy thoughts and behaviors.
My first session isn’t just a time for demographic gathering. It’s important that my clients understand that counseling is a process that can work for them, so we’ll spend time tackling a specific issue.
I have been interested in the mind and how it works ever since I was a child. Additionally, I am the type of person who has always lent a hand to those in need. Through it all, I've learned to love seeing people discover their true potential and succeed, be it a big or small goal.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
My counseling style is authentic, integrative, holistic, supportive, genuine, kind, compassionate, perceptive, and curious. My approach combines humanistic, existential, and cognitive-behavioral counseling. I am focused on the here and now and I want to know what is important to you and how we can move you towards your mental wellness goals. I am so excited that you are choosing to make a positive choice in your life today and I am here to support and empower you through the entire journey. I look forward to working with you!
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
I utilize evidence-based therapies, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical-behavioral therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. I am an expert in psychotherapy, you are an expert in yourself, and I believe you already have many of the answers inside of you. Your treatment plan will be individualized and tailored to fit your specific needs.
