About Me

I embarked on my counseling journey in 1994, and since then, I have continued to evolve and refine my skills to provide the best possible care to my clients. Holding the license of a Licensed Professional Counselor since 1997, I have demonstrated unwavering dedication to the ethical standards and practices of my profession. My longevity in the field speaks volumes about my passion for helping others navigate the complexities of life. I am an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Certified Therapist and an EMDRIA Certified Consultant. These certifications highlight my proficiency in a specialized form of therapy designed to address trauma and support individuals in overcoming distressing experiences. By incorporating EMDR into my practice, I empowers my clients to process and integrate challenging memories, fostering healing and resilience. Through my trauma-informed approach, I provides a safe and supportive environment for clients to navigate their healing journey at their own pace. My expertise extends beyond traditional counseling methods, as I have acquired several therapy certifications that showcase my commitment to staying at the forefront of evidence-based practices.

Through trauma counseling I have often helped client break free of their past and live in the present. This is a very rewarding experience for both the client and myself. I remember a marine thanking me with tears for helping him get his life back and live in the present with his wife and children.

After the intake we will determine a treatment plan together so we meet your goals. Depending on the goals I am often directive in the session. Sessions may be educational or when you are ready it my be intense.

In the first session I hope to get to know who you are and what your goals are. I explore current symptoms and past attachments.

My motivation to be a therapist is about change. I love watching people evolve into who they really are underneath their pain.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I love working with individuals and couples and helping them transform their lives. I realize it takes a great deal of courage to decide to begin the counseling process and to explore difficult issues. I hope to make the process as comfortable as possible for you. I strive to provide a safe, supportive, and confidential environment for adults struggling with a variety of issues such as depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, and relationships. During the fast pace of life, it is sometimes challenging to find someone who will just stop and listen. As I listen to your story, you can slow down and connect with your thoughts and emotions that may be affecting your daily life in a negative way. This helps you be able to connect to your own emotions and become more connected in your relationships.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I utilize evidence-based therapies, including: Attachment-Based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Client-Centered Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Therapy

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I feel my biggest strength is my desire to continue learning. This field is growing fast and it takes dedication to continue to learn and grow. The reason I do this is to provide the very best care for my clients. I enjoy implementing a variety of approaches that will best meet their needs. I want therapy to be individualized and tailored to my client.
