About Me

Hi there, I'm Momilani Williams and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with several years of experience working in the Mental Health field, ranging from school-based advocacy, foster youth advocacy, military children and families. I help people who are feeling overwhelmed in their life or with their emotions and process through those feelings in a more positive way. We can strategize about what to do to help you to manage your emotions and to get you feeling more like your true self. Whether you're dealing with overwhelming relationship issues or cycles of anxiety and depression, I'm here to help. Seeking therapy can feel scary but you're making the right choice. You deserve a safe space to heal and grow. In our sessions together, I'll meet you with compassion and evidence-based techniques so you can overcome the hang-ups and habits holding you back. I once worked with a client who was experiencing anxiety when it came to intimate relationships and the anxiety was debilitating to the client and took over their well-being. Through our work together, the client was able to understand their attachment style and how that played a role within their current relationships. The client was able to process through their emotions of the relationship with their parent and was able to learn to express and feel the emotions that they were ingrained to suppress growing up.

Though every person’s situation is unique, I provide an environment that is a safe place with compassion and empathy. I encourage my client's autonomy in their treatment which allows them to tell their story and provides them the empowerment to make a difference in their lives. I will help guide you to achieve your desired goals.

My first session is a time where I allow the client to tell me their story, their reason why they are seeking therapy at this time in their life. I take the time to better understand their presenting symptoms/reasons and provide a general idea of how the future sessions will look. Building rapport is the main focus during the first session, the client needs to feel comfortable on all levels and I will answer any questions that might come up.

I have been interested in the mind and how it works ever since I studied abnormal psychology when I was a Nursing student in college. I have always wanted to help people in some capacity, but when I realized that the mind ha so many avenues I was intrigued. What really solidified my desires to be a therapist was my experiences as an Army child, Young Adult, and now Army Spouse. The military population is quite unique, and they face their own challenges that the civilian population might not. Everyone has the potential within themselves to reach their goals, and therapy is one way that they can achieve it, big or small, any type of progress is a win in my book.


    What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

    My counseling style is authentic, supportive, genuine, kind, compassionate, and curious. My approach combines humanistic and cognitive-behavioral counseling. I am focused on the here and now and I want to know what is important to you and how we can move you towards your mental wellness goals.     What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

    I utilize evidence-based therapies, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment-Based Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I am an expert in psychotherapy, you are an expert in yourself, and I believe you already have many of the answers inside of you. Your treatment plan will be individualized and tailored to fit your specific needs.

    Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

    I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, and military populations in individual therapy. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, life adjustments and social anxiety. While I do work in a general way with all ages and a variety of groups, my focus population is on adolescents and the military populations.
