My name is Tammy Reade. I am a licensed professional counselor. I graduated from George Mason with a M.Ed., with a concentration in community agencies in 2020. I was led to the counseling field through my life’s journey. I have been in the field for over 25 years. My experience includes working with adults, couples, adolescents, and children. My pervious roles include working as a child protection worker, juvenile probation officer, domestic violence and sexual assault advocate, foster parent trainer and a jail therapist. However, my most prominent accomplishment has been being an adoptive and foster parent for over 22 years. I believe every human needs a supportive person in their lives. It’s a basic need to feel connection and love. My passions are working through life's challenges and becoming a better person on the other side. I have had my own challenges which have been vast and many. It has made me into a kind, caring person who sees the good in everyone.
I have worked with veterans , law enforcement officers and individuals who have been through significant traumatic experiences. My most rewarding experience is when the client can process without avoiding the incident. Only Can the baggage be left behind. therefore living your best life.
Though every person’s situation is unique, I generally approach the counseling process from a Psychodynamic framework to help my clients understand their underlying, subconscious motivations for their actions, both positive and negative. I spend a significant amount of time developing the therapeutic relationship. Trust must be earned.
My first session isn’t just a time for demographic gathering. It’s important that my clients understand that counseling is a process that can work for them, so we’ll spend time tackling a specific issue and developing a road map specifically for you.
I have been led to this profession from my own life experiences. Through it all, I've learned to love seeing people discover their true potential and succeed, be it a big or small goal.
