About Me

Hi everyone. My name is Alan. I am a licensed clinical social worker with over seven years of social work practice. I have primarily worked in a partial care setting, working and helping clients who are diagnosed with a mental illness. I have run fun and successful group counseling lessons. By working where my clients are at, I have seen my clients make progress and improve their self-esteem, as well as reach their individual goals. I also have experience working as a clinician in an outpatient setting, where I have helped clients who are diagnosed with anxiety, depression, and other mood and/or personality disorders. I truly believe it is a privilege to work with others who are seeking help. I enjoy helping people overcome their anxiety and depression, as well as meet their other personal goals. Together, we can strategize and work together to help you meet any of your goals. This will be done by using cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, mindfulness techniques, realizing your individual strengths and/or making progress in areas of struggle, and realizing "that for every problem you face, there is always a solution attached." Please know that I am here to help a be a part of your success. I will always treat you with respect, dignity, worth, high value, and meet you right where you are at. In our sessions at individual therapy, I will be compassionate, empathetic, and ethical. Let's work together so you can be successful!

I once worked with a client for about a year and a half who struggled with panic disorder, and she had a history of trauma and anxiety. Through our work together, this client was able to overcome their anxiety and get a full-time job, as well as move on from the trauma/grief she had experienced earlier in her life.

Though every person's situation is unique and different, I generally approach the counseling process by using cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and solution-focused therapy in my sessions. I promise to be an active listener, nonjudgmental, and will work with my clients where they are at, so they can get where they want to be!

My first session will include your intake and it will also focus on getting to know you and what your goals are. Time is valuable, and it will not be wasted. We will discuss all matters that matter to you!

I have been interested in helping others since I was a young child. I had a great childhood growing up, and with my parents guidance, I was taught to help others. I know I am a helper by heart, and I can think of nothing better that to help people reach their goals and fullest potential. This motivates me to be the best therapist I can be.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

My counseling style is genuine, authentic, real, kind, curious, and compassionate. I am an active listener and will ask appropriate follow up questions to any issue being discussed. My approach to individual therapy is very eclectic. I believe it is wise to use client-centered, psychodynamic, and cognitive-behavioral therapy during our sessions. I also believe it is important to use the strengths perspective and mindfulness techniques during our sessions. Overall, let's be honest, open, and work towards solutions to your mental health and wellness goals. I am excited to support and work with you through your journey!

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I use cognitive-behavioral therapy, client-centered therapy, motivational interviewing, solution- focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and focus on the strengths perspective when working with clients. With that stated, your treatment plan will be reflective of you, and I will work with you to help you achieve your goals. You can achieve and make progress in any area of life. If you put the effort in, the results will come true!

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have worked with adults and the geriatric population in a partial care setting and in individual therapy. I have worked with clients who have many different conditions. This includes those with depression, anxiety, a history of substance abuse, trauma, social anxiety, panic disorder, and other mood and/or personality disorders. I am most interested, and I feel the most qualified, to help individuals with stress-related issues, anxiety, and depression. I am open to working with any adult over 18 years old.
