Hello. My name is Alicia Murello and I am currently a supervisee in social work. I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults and families in therapeutic programs since 2009. I have served in many capacities at hospitals, schools, residential and day treatment programs, and also mental health facilities. I earned my Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology and Human Services from the University of Minnesota and went on to earn a Master of Social Work from George Mason University. I am passionate about helping others and guiding individuals and families through their journey of connecting and healing as a system. I believe balancing challenges and support is vital to creating safety and growth for individual and families. I enjoy reading, playing pickleball and exercising, and especially spending time with my husband and children.
When one of my clients had a difficult time transitioning from her home to the outside world we decided to make a small goal to spend 15 minutes outside everyday. Because of the small goal we made, she was able to transition to restaurants and the mall for longer periods of time.
Clients can expect to feel comfortable during our counseling sessions. I will always listen to clients without judgement and communicate with them effectively. Clients will be able to trust me throughout our counseling sessions.
Our first counseling session will typically look like both of us getting to know each other and having a better understanding on how we should proceed in future counseling sessions. The client will be able to explain in detail what he/she wants out of the counseling sessions.
I love helping people and have a strong desire to see people change.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
As a therapist, my biggest strengths are: 1. Listening without judgement: I will always actively listen without any type of judgment and the ability to show empathy for all clients. 2. Communication: I will communicate with the client to present observations as well as provide new knowledge and we will process the observations together. 3. Trustworthiness: It is important that clients trust me so that they are able to fully open up to me. When I am trusted it opens the door for healthy conversations. It shows commitment to an open honest relationship between myself and the client.
