About Me

Welcome. My name is Courtney, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in New Jersey. I hold a Master’s Degree from Ramapo College of New Jersey and have extensive experience working with Community Mental Health agencies, special education schools, and outpatient therapy programs. My expertise lies in supporting young adults, with a particular focus on LGBTQIA+ individuals. As an affirming provider, I strive to create not only a 'safe space' but also an enriching environment for our sessions. I am deeply honored whenever a client chooses to embark on their therapeutic journey with me. I believe that a successful therapeutic relationship begins with the client's genuine desire for change, in whatever form that may take. If this resonates with you, you have come to the right place. Let us start this journey together. You deserve to live a life that is profoundly fulfilling and meaningful.

FAQs

I worked with a client for approximately two years, during which we made significant progress toward achieving their treatment goals. As the client prepared to move out of state and start a new and exciting job, our work together was approaching its conclusion. From the outset, I work towards a planned "termination" process, but this client found the concept of termination to be particularly overwhelming and concerning. Over the next two months, I dedicated myself to helping the client address and confront these fears directly. I take pride in the client’s ability to openly communicate her feelings about ending. As therapists, our role is to establish a trusting and safe environment.

You can anticipate experiencing a state of being "comfortably uncomfortable." This signifies that while I will be your strongest supporter, I will also hold you accountable, particularly in areas where you seek to make changes.

During our initial session, I will ask a series of questions to gather historical data and understand the presenting issues. This approach will enable me to gain a comprehensive understanding of your background and current situation. I recognize that sharing personal details about your past or struggles can be daunting, so I will proceed at your pace and revisit any sensitive topics as needed. Additionally, our first session will focus on establishing rapport and determining whether we have a mutual connection, ensuring that we can work effectively together.

Having been a recipient of services in the past, I have experienced firsthand how mental health professionals can significantly impact individuals both positively and negatively. My goal is to ensure that I am, at the very least, a positive influence. Ideally, I aim to equip you with the tools and skills necessary to foster meaningful change, enabling you to live the most fulfilling life possible.
